Lighthouses > Struga, Lastovo

Lastovo is a scarcely inhabited island 55 NM from Split and Dubrovnik, while its archipelago consists of over 40 islands, islets and cliffs. Due to its distance from the mainland, it seems as though it emerges from the blue of the sea and sky. The lighthouse lies at the height of 70 m, at the very edge of a steep cliff that offers a splendid view of the open sea.

Magnificent views and easy access to the sea through the pine woods on the northern side of the lighthouse make Struga a very popular tourist destination.

Three generations of the Kvinta family have been living on the island as lighthouse keepers. In the past, their only preoccupation was to take care of the lighthouse, while nowadays they also take care of guests who stay in the lighthouse.

While the head of the family Jure Kvinta organizes transfer of guests arriving without car or goes fishing, Mrs. Nada Kvinta gladly prepares fish for dinner. Of course, if you would like to join Jure Kvinta when he goes fishing, he will be happy to take you along.

If you would like to get to know the entire island of Lastovo during your stay in Struga, we recommend walks along well-kept trails that go on for kilometers. They will take you, for example, to places like Lastovo, known for its specific architecture (particularly chimneys), or to the beautiful bay of Zaklopatica and the bridge on its southern side that connects the island of Lastovo to the island of Prezba.

Beaches

A concrete swimming area with deep waters that belongs to the lighthouse can be found behind the lighthouse and is surrounded by pine trees. You can also go swimming on splendid rocky beaches in some of the numerous secluded bays where waters are relatively shallow. The beaches are suitable for children.
